Shown here is a Defender 110 Soft Top 3 Door with a traditional look, tasteful modifications, and performance upgrades.  We gave this Defender the code name, Blanc Noir (French for Black White but hey we thought it was better than Salt N Peppa).  The Defender was sold new to mainland Europe and was recently located by Car Cave in the Uzes, France in the custody of a Monsieur Grijseels.  Uzes is located in the Occitanie region of southern France known for dry climate being located regionally to both Italy and Spain.  We could easily recognize upon inspection this Defender lived its life in the dry French southern climate and was well taken care of throughout its life.  Car Cave did a multi-point inspection and mechanical review of this Defender upon arrival.  We can customize this Defender for it’s new owner including a front center seat or center console.

The 1988 Defender 110  V8 is a rare left hand drive with the factory built 3.5L Rover V8 that has been performance modified with a Edelbrock Performer Intake, Edelbrock 500CFM, headers, and stainless steel exhaust.  Shown in the in a well done recent exterior repaint in white, new black interior throughout, color matching wheel flares, and nicely contrasting accents all around.  An aggressive set of 34×10.50×16 Super Swamper TSL tires wrapped around a freshly powder coated set of factory 16” steel wheels.  A full-size matching spare is mounted on the bonnet to keep your rubber on the ground and moving down the road in the instance of a blowout.  The factory V8 engine runs extremely well with a deep subtle growl of a V8.  A LT77 5-Speed manual transmission shifts correctly through the gears smooth and precisely.  The upholstery flows well with the overall minimalized white on black aesthetics of this build.  Simple yet elegant is a great way to describe the choices we made when putting this Defender together.  A few tasteful upgrades have been added to this Defender but overall stays very original to its heritage.  Upgrades include LED lighting, new black vinyl interior, galvanized cappings, vented headlamp finishers, HD steering rods, and a front skid plate. The factory options are pretty typical for a Defender of the era including a rear step, windshield wipers, blinkers, power steering, and power brakes.

Car Cave performed an extensive amount of work to this Defender while in our possession.  Recent maintenance, new parts, and work performed includes Edelbrock Intake, Edelbrock Carb, Headers, Fuel Filter, Custom Headers, stainless steel exhaust, installation of the Safety Devices roll cage, Exmoor Trim Soft Top, Exmoor Trim front hood sticks, rear jump seats, tachometer, shocks, steering stabilizer, HD track rods, oil pressure actuator, brake lamp switch, oil change, and fluid service.

No other 4×4 vehicle has the pedigree and a track record like Land Rover. Not only was it one of the first, it remains the world’s pre-eminent on and off-road vehicle, exhilarating to drive, highly reliable, and easy to maintain.  The Defender 110 features the high horse power 3.5L Rover V8 mated to the bulletproof 5 Speed Manual LT77 Transmission.  It provides high performance on-road with the capability to tackle the worst off-road conditions, in nearly every driving environment in the world.
