The 5 window Chevy 3100 truck is stored in our Aiken, SC climate-controlled warehouse. The vehicle shown is owned, maintained, and driven by us here at Car Cave. This vehicle has had a complete concourse restoration with less than 350 miles since completion.
The five window Chevy, known as the deluxe cab, was manufactured between 1947 and 1954. This eliminated the blind spots in the rear quarter panels of the cab, allowing the driver to look over his shoulder rather than putting his head out the window.
The truck is painted in a Dark Blue Pearl paint that is absolutely breath taking. The interior is Dark Graphite with accents of 2 charcoal suede. The carpet is medium dark grey cut pile. The truck has a wooden bed in ash that is stained with varathane Premium Carbon Grey. The wheels are Torque Thrust II 20”, that the spokes were painted grey. The rubber on the ground is Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics Run Flats 245/40R20.
The power is delivered by 235 Blue Flame Chevy engine (built in 1958) with Holley Model 41 60, 390 cfm, 4 barrel carburetor. The head for the straight six is the desirable 3836848 head (came on 1956-1962 engines) that get better compression. This power is then mated to a TH400 three speed automatic transmission. The shifter is on the floor and at first glance seems to be a manual vehicle.
This truck also has Vintage Air (134A Refrigerant). The stereo is hidden in the glovebox so the dash has a nice clean look. Power steering with a leather wrapped tilt wheel is installed. The gas tank has been removed from behind the bench seat and relocated to under the truck bed. Stealth pop up gas cap is flush mounted with the driver’s side rear fender. Tint windows and VHX analog/digital gauges wrap up the interior. As said before, this is the most breathtaking fully restored vehicle we have seen at Car Cave. The restoration was at Carolina Rod Shop of Piedmont, SC between 2017 and 2020
